Introducing Tuft Drift.

I started tufting about a year ago as an outlet during covid. It's taken me almost a year to create finished pieces that meet my standards. I'm excited to launch Tuft Drift. I hope you enjoy our rugs and bugs as much as I do making them.

FAQS

How do you make tufted rugs?

Tufting is considered a textile art, similar to weaving. I use a tufting gun that shoots yarn into a backing fabric to make my rugs. It's a super loud power tool I use to draw with yarn. There are two types of tufting, cut-pile, which I use primarily for rugs, and loop-pile. These two different types of tufting give different feels and finished products. Cut-pile is very similar to carpet or traditional rugs; the ends of yarn are cut and remain fluffy. Loop-pile is when the yarn strands are held together in tight loops, and it's typically shorter and less fluffy.

What materials do you use?

I use two types of yarn, 100% Acrylic (Craft Yarn) and 100% Wool (Premium). Both materials are perfect for rug tufting.

What is carving?

Our rugs are carved using hand clippers to show each pattern's beautiful curves and details. This painstaking process helps create clean lines and unique texture for each tuft drift rug.

How do you finish the rugs?

Each rug is glued to lock in the fibers and the back is lined with a non-slip heavy-duty rug pad. This adds durability and a nice heft to the finished piece.

How long do rugs take to make?

Each rug is made by hand and follows a very detailed process to create a finished product. Depending on the complexity and size of the rug, each piece takes between 15-20 hours. Roughly about two float trips...

How should I care for my rug?

Spot-clean the rug with mild soap and water only. Do not use chemicals or other cleaners. Shedding is normal, and loose fibers can be trimmed with scissors but be careful not to pull out strings. Please keep it clean by gently vacuuming (ideally, no brush) or using a lint roller.

How do you ship your rugs?

Our rugs will ship via your choice of shipping, UPS or USPS. Insurance and tracking will be provided when available. I'll do my best to ship your order within three business days unless it's a preorder.

Return Policy

All items are unique and irreplaceable; therefore, all sales are final. If a product received is damaged or not as expected, please reach out.

What is your inspiration?

Every opportunity I have to be on the water, I build a deeper connection to the art I make. We've all experience the joy and excitement of landing a fish on the fly and the brief encounter with the ones we miss. I want to capture the beauty and uniqueness of each pattern, spot, and wildness of those fish. As I continue to chase fish on the fly and catch different species, I'll bring those fish to life in my rugs.

Do you do custom orders?

I'm just starting this journey and am open to custom orders if they align with my interests. Please shoot me an email aaron@tuftdrift.com or DM to discuss.
